JUNE

"BRIGHT
BLACK SKY"
JIMMI CARR
Media
Release
Monday
16 June 2006
:: "Light Sleeper" - single ::
:: Featuring HERMITUDE ::
"BRIGHT BLACK SKY" is
the second release from solo
artist Jimmi Carr. The album was
released through Vitamin Records in March 2006 followed by an
extensive,
successful East Coast tour.
Jimmi is now set
to go out on the road
again in July with his 4 piece band to promote the new single Light Sleeper
which
features HERMITUDE.
Hailing from the
Blue Mountains in NSW, Jimmi’s music is both original and
accessible as he draws on influences that move through folk, funk,
blues, reggae, rock and hip hop to create a unique and individual style
that could be described as "Ben Harper meets Beck".
With
Jimmi’s classic songwriting skills and the help of some of
Sydney’s finest musicians, "BRIGHT BLACK SKY" is a
diverse and heartfelt album. Tracks such as Light Sleeper
(featuring Hermitude), the funky Cool
Police and
the rock-inspired Stand
& Deliver
demonstrate the scope of Jimmi’s talent for
composition and
arrangement.
Jimmi and the
boys from Hermitude have known each other for years and recorded there
new albums in the same studio during the same period. Light Sleeper was
the product of Jimmi laying down the rhythm tracks and Hermitude adding
Keys, Synths, Turntables and samples. Jimmi then came back and layed
down the vocal. The result is a punchy blend of funk/rock, reggae and
Hiphop.
"BRIGHT BLACK SKY" and
the Jimmi’s live shows have
been winning support wherever he has gone

"This
album delivers with tasteful ease.
Bright Black Sky is a fantastic release showing versatility and poise"
Glen
McVey . . . Stix Magazine

"Great
musicianship and vocal techniques.
Passionate, real fire in the belly stuff"
NSW
Folk Federation

"Provides the listener with a powerful kick in the stomach, hitting the
right spot. Give (Bright Black Sky) a chance and you might find at
least one nugget of gold"
